Costa da Morte Parador, Muxía

Opened in 2020, the Costa da Morte Parador is located in Lourido, in the municipality of Muxía, occupying a natural hillside overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and Lourido Beach. From its privileged setting, the building enjoys expansive views over the coastline, the town of Muxía and the Vilán Lighthouse, making the surrounding landscape an essential part of the experience of the place.

Designed by architect Alfonso Penela, the building is composed of clean, horizontal volumes and refined lines that adapt to the site's topography. Large glazed surfaces, terraces and the careful selection of materials and tones encourage its integration into the surroundings, blurring the boundaries between the architecture and the landscape that embraces it.

Beyond its role as a hotel, the Parador stands as an example of contemporary architecture that seeks to establish a respectful dialogue with its setting, making light, views and its relationship with the landscape some of its defining architectural qualities.

Architectural photography makes it possible to highlight this connection between building and landscape, focusing on its volumes, geometries and perspectives, as well as on the way light and atmospheric conditions transform the perception of space. An exercise in observation that aims to document not only a singular work of architecture, but also its deep connection with the Costa da Morte.
