Pepe Albela Distilleries: architecture, essence and landscape

Located in a privileged corner of the Galician countryside, Pepe Albela Distilleries stand out for their commitment to quality, design, and respect for tradition. Photographing this project allowed me to access the soul of a place where every space tells a story, and every detail is designed to harmonize with its surroundings.

From the very beginning, I knew this would be a very special session. The set of distilleries —spread across different buildings in Vedra— forms a coherent, elegant, and deeply Galician project. Here, traditional architecture and contemporary design coexist naturally, in continuous dialogue with the landscape and the family legacy behind it all.

The whisky distillery stands out for its sobriety, with stone and wood integrating it seamlessly into the environment. Nearby is the Rum Aging Center, housed in a lovingly restored family home, where the interiors exude calm and character. But the crown jewel is the gin distillery, a modern building of glass and wood that opens the space to natural light and the lush green surroundings. In this place, I also had the chance to explore different visual atmospheres: from exterior shots during the blue hour to more intimate interior scenes, captured at night using only artificial lighting.

This project was an opportunity to explore architectural and interior photography from a perspective that values local identity, detail, and aesthetic care. A commission that blends product, landscape, and architecture — the kind of setting I truly enjoy working with.
